France’s Francois Letexier will officiate England’s matchup against Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
The Berlin showpiece will be the fourth match at the tournament overseen by the 35-year-old, who has been an international referee since 2017.
Gareth Southgate’s side booked a spot in their second European Championship final after a late victory against the Netherlands.
Spain secured their place in the final after beating France by the same score line on Tuesday.
Francois Letexier will be joined at Sunday’s final by French assistants Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni.
Letexier has taken charge of a number of high-profile matches. He has officiated ten UEFA club fixtures in the Champions League and Europa League.
Letexier was the fourth official at the 2024 Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid at Wembley.
He was also the referee of the 2023 UEFA Super Cup between Man City and Sevilla in Greece.
Szymon Marciniak Polish referee, who refereed the World Cup final in Qatar, will be the fourth official.
Marciniak had reportedly been due to officiate the opening game of Euro 2024 before being dropped following his blunder during Bayern Munich’s Champions League defeat by Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
Polish media had reported Marciniak, who refereed the 2023 Champions League final after UEFA cleared him to take charge following reports he had attended a far-right event.
Last December, Letexier was accused by then Stade de Reims manager Will Still of making an ‘inappropriate’ comment about the Englishman’s prospective move to Sunderland.
Letexier subsequently pushed back on Still’s account and claimed that manager may have misinterpreted him.
‘It was meant to be light-hearted, with a smile and without any ill intention. He misinterpreted me.’
