Enzo Maresca feels Chelsea’s disciplinary record ‘has to improve’ after six players were booked against Nottingham Forest and two were suspended for their forthcoming trip to Liverpool.

Maresca brings his side to Anfield following the international break, although Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella will be missing after receiving their fifth yellow cards of the season.

Four additional Chelsea players – Levi Colwill, Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer, and Pedro Neto – were booked, resulting in a £25,000 Premier League fine.

When asked about Chelsea’s disciplinary record this season, Maresca stated, “I said many times that it is something we need to improve.”

Two Forest players were booked, while referee Chris Kavanagh also sent out James Ward-Prowse for two infractions.

Chelsea’s red card came with about 20 minutes left in the game, but they were unable to capitalise on their numerical advantage, as Forest hung on for a point.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team took the lead shortly after halftime through Chris Wood, however Noni Madueke levelled ten minutes later.

‘I think we deserved to win,’ Maresca said following Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw.

”They’re are an excellent squad, and we anticipated they would defend well. It was a tough and tricky game, quite different from Brighton, but we were patient on the ball and created opportunities.

‘Overall, the performance was good, and I believe we deserved to win. Their custodian was the finest in the game. We generated opportunities and achieved our aim in the manner we desired.

Chelsea striker Madueke, on the other hand, said he and his teammates were ‘frustrated’ by the tie.

‘They have a stubborn personality. We went into the game hoping to grab three points.
